Fontainebleau Resort

(7 Ratings)
Trendy hotel with too much hype
The Fontainebleau is the #1 place for people looking to be as trendy as possible. If you want to bronze by the pool, most of the chairs MUST BE RENTED (!?!?!), the nightclubs are difficult to get into if you're not accompanied by a woman, and the restaurants have waiting lists.

Iconic Hotel that's Worth It

Be prepared to spend a bit but theplace is worth every dime. This is Vegas meets Miami Beach. Lots of restaurants - Hakkasan and Scarpetta are my favorites. LIV is the nightclub that is the #1 revenue producing in the US - you will see why. All the celebrities hang out here. Be sure to have at least a drink in the iconic Bleu Bar this is the place to be seen and to people watch. If you are staying here be sure to ask for the Chateau Tower - the original tower with an ocean view balcony. The Tresor and Sorrento Towers are worth it if you have hte extra $$$ to spend - especially the Sorrento which is the newest tower. The pool scene is the best in Miami - hang out at a cabana and really feel like a King. Also, the outside restaurant is a great place to chill. Food is very good as well. This is a must see hotel in Miami....

Not worth the price

Beach, bar and restaurant service was good but the rest of hotel serviced sucked. The front desk was slow, the bell hops weren't helpful and the maid service was awful (no clean cups, hairy towels, dirty floors). Although it's close to south beach, it is still a cab ride so if you're looking to be near action, find something closer.

Off the chart elegance and style.

Pools...wow! Beach front...schwing! Roomy rooms most with walkout balconies. Gym top-notch. You're going to have to cab to Lincoln, Washington or Ocean Drive, but that's ok...for me at least. The Fontainebleau is a great place, quiet elegance but still close to the heat, party atmosphere and frenzy of South Beach.

Nice, but further north

The rooms here are very nice, and service is good. It is a lavish setting, similar to a mega-resort in the Caribbean, with pools scattered around the grounds. Many people love staying here. But once you check in, you are stuck on property—nothing else is in walking distance. There is a Starbucks in the lobby; other than that, you must eat at their restaurants, which are VERY expensive. If you want to go anywhere else, you have to take a cab. The clubs (notably LIV) are über-trendy, but not particularly gay-friendly. You usually need some girls with you to get in.
